Hello all. I am 58 years old on disability pension and required to travel from north Vancouver Island to Vancouver most every month for medical appointments, treatment and documentation to maintain my pension. I have done so for the past 15 years and been creative financially utilizing end of life vehicles all under $1000.00 in cost. I have retired 5 Toyota LE vans, 2 Toyota Sienna and rapidly working on the 3rd. Each and every journey has been racked with stress and strain due to the uncertainty as to whether I will succeed in making the complete journey. I had a tree fall on one last December the week after I bought it. The second caught fire 25 km from home. Someone tried to steal my current one and smashed the glass, jammed the ignition and door cylinders, broke the antenna and broke the slider door. Insurance should cover most of that but won’t accept the cost of new battery due to the interior lights not shutting off and I have been stranded in the BC Ferries line up last week and had to get multiple boosts since. I went to check on my mobility scooter today and it is still not ready so I am stuck in Victoria waiting on ICBC and for my scooter repairs. Upon leaving there was a loud bang and the van started leaking. I seems to be brake fluid pouring out of the van. I have endured expense after expense, tows and ICBC deductibles repeatedly. I am waiting for surgery and not sure if I can get back home let alone have means to travel for surgery. I am overwhelmed.
PLEASE. IF ANYONE HAS A RELIABLE ACCESSIBILITY VAN THAT IS NO LONGER REQUIRED AND WILLING TO PASS IT ON TO GOOD HOME AND TO SOMEONE TRULY IN NEED. I HAVE MANAGED FOR OVER 20 YEARS. I CANNOT CONTINUE WITH BUBBLE GUM AND BAND AID REPAIRS. I AM SO CLOSE TO MY SURGERY AFTER A 15 YEAR WAIT. IF YOU CAN, PLEASE HELP.
